Saama implements Data Mart to improve access and reporting efficiencies.
The Client:
With fiscal year 2004 revenues of USD$14.5 billion, Flextronics is the leading Electronics
Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider focused on delivering operational services to technology
companies with operations in 32 countries.
The Challenge:
The client had several applications for running its business, including an ERP system, an
inventory and logistics system, a sales forecasting system, and an engineering/production
system. The early implementation of Business Objects™ required the users to go to multiple
places to get the needed information, making reporting difficult.
The Solution:
Saama consolidated the different sources into a single data mart running on SQL Server
and utilizing Microsoft Data Transfer Services (DTS) for transferring the relevant data.
Once the data were combined as per the agreed upon data model, Saama built a single,
unified Business Objects universe that gave users access to all of the enterprise information.
Business Objects Broadcast Agent Server was used to automatically refresh the reports
and post them to the client’s extranet for external users such as vendors and customers.
A series of standard reports were developed, and the reporting platform was set up to allow trained users to create ad-hoc reports.
