Saama helps business application division redirect its engineering organization to core product development
The Client:
The e-business applications division of this leading telecom and networking equipment provider,
developed and sold a leading CRM software suite.
The Challenge:
As the company expanded the footprint of its CRM suite, they were hard pressed to reduce time to
market, overall engineering costs due to a downturn in the economy, and a need to focus their
in-house engineering on making their product suite more competitive. One of the strategies they
decided to adopt was to outsource the QA and regression testing of minor releases, as well as
multiple platform, language and databases compatibility testing. They looked for a vendor with
in-depth product and domain expertise, a robust QA and testing methodology, and an of fshoring
capability. Saama was their vendor of choice as we met all the requirements.
The Solution:
Our solution was to provide a hybrid onshore and off shore delivery
model where the onshore team gathered project requirements and led the offshore team to
deliver as per specification. Saama followed Nortel design, quality assurance standards
and applied effective communication to deliver a quality solution. The total team size
was 6 onshore and 30 off shore. The Saama team then provided 100% test coverage for the
suite of products on multiple platforms and databases
The Benefits:
The client achieved significant benefits through off shoring:
Improved overall productivity and redirected focus of the QA organization.
Reduced time to market by leveraging a hybrid 16 X 6 onshore / off shore model.
Improved performance, robustness and usability of the CRM suite of products.
Achieved 100% test coverage on multiple platforms, languages and databases.
Improved bug reporting turnaround time by taking advantage of two time zones.
