Polycom opens to a higher level of business efficiency
The Client:
Polycom develops, manufactures and markets a full range of high quality,
easy to use and affordable voice and video communication endpoints,
video management software, web conferencing software, multi-network
gateways, and multipoint conferencing and network access solutions.
The Challenge:
Polycom implemented the People Soft ERP and needed a business
intelligence tool that could be quickly implement, and yet had the power
and flexibility to meet Polycom's business objectives as their needs
matured. The tool had to be easy to use, requiring minimum training for
its worldwide user base.
The Solution:
Saama conducted the business needs analysis
and recommended Business Objects as the best tool for Polycom's
business needs. The combination of Info View and Web Intelligence
provides an easy to use web based interface for the users,
combined with the power of the Business Objects reporting module
and Broadcast Agent Server to meet their varied reporting needs.
Saama performed a quick implementation of
Business Objects to allow the users to get information out of
our Peopl eSoft ERP in a web based, user friendly manner. Saama
built universes and wrote reports.
For the initial rollout, Saama developed 14
Business Objects universes that extracted data directly from the
PeopleSoft ERP database. This direct access allowed Saama to
implement a broad reporting solution in a six week time frame.
Saama also created a group of complex "Order Visibility" reports
and several other reports to meet Polycom's specific business
requirements.

Within six weeks, Polycom employees had a
powerful solution to extract information from their ERP system.
This provides them with the visibility to make better, faster
decisions, providing rapid payback of their investment.
