Saama CEO Suresh Katta speaks at the CSI 2009
Pune, India – 10 October 2009 – Suresh Katta, Founder and CEO of Saama Technologies, was an invited speaker at the 44th Annual Convention held by the venerable Computer Society of India during October 8-10, in Pune India. Suresh was invited to deliver a keynote for the Youth Track of the event and was also a speaker at the main convention forum.
Suresh chose to highlight how the paradigm regarding ‘normal’ is something that is constantly shifting and therefore the subject matter of his presentations was something that he calls “The New Normal”. While delivering the keynote at the Youth track, he spoke of what “The New Normal” is for the coming generation and how it would impact their lives in a very fundamental manner. He highlighted how technology is driving change in the world today and how it would continue to do so in the future. He spent time talking about what he believes are some of the exciting things that are evolving in the technology space, like cloud computing, convergence, etc that would bring about “the new normal” in people’s lives. He then proceeded to communicate to the youth regarding how they should be looking forward to this change and more importantly, how they should seize the many opportunities that this change would create. The youth were appreciative of his keynote and got involved in the Q&A session following the keynote and had lots of queries and follow up to his view points.
Speaking later at the Main conference forum, Suresh stayed with the same idea regarding “the new normal” but with a focus on how technology shifts are going to impact businesses and what should businesses be doing to adapt and tailor these changes to their benefit. He was vocal about how there is a global significance for any business that is trying to be relevant over the next decade and therefore businesses should be more concerned at measuring and benchmarking themselves globally on every aspect of their business. He also stressed on the fact that while India has enjoyed the benefits of becoming an outsourcing leader, Indian businesses have not fully woken up to the outsourcing world themselves. He said that Indian businesses should understand the primary reason for outsourcing is not necessarily cost but to provide a focus to businesses on retaining what is core to them and to outsource the non-core activities. This focus on the core activities would make businesses nimble and agile in a fast changing business world.
