Compliance
UMT provides documentation for the purpose of auditing and compliance, enabling users to generate necessary documents:
- Universe Metadata: Documenting the business logic encapsulated in the universe.
- Report Metadata: Documenting Webi, Deski, WebI Richclient and Crystal reports into spread sheets or used as functional references.
- Universe Difference log: Documenting the difference between universes into spread sheets for compliance purposes.
- User Audit information: Documenting audit information such as changes made from user, report created/ modified/ refreshed date and time-stamp.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation
UMT enables risk analysis during any impending change to the universe or the database. Assessments include:
- Report Impact Analysis (RIA): The effect of changes through new developments or DB alterations in the reports currently offered to users.
- DB Changes Update: Automatically identifying and updating the universe with any changes in the physical database using the DB Refresh feature and maintaining the log.
- Universe Version Control: Automatically saving a version of a universe prior to the change for backup.
New Process Enablement
UMT allows for more efficient change management by automating manual processes and enabling new processes.
- Compare and Merge Universes: Comparing two universes (from different repositories), highlighting the differences visually and merging the changes either manually or through the auto merge feature.
- Parallel Universe Development: Development of two parts of the same universe in parallel and consolidating them once the development is complete.
- Bulk Property Update: Updating the properties of a universe in bulk using the universe metadata generated from UMT.
- Switch Universe for Reports: Switching the universe the reports are pointing to in bulk using a simple drag and drop operation.
