Big Data Company Saama Looking to Expand Midwest Advanced Analytics Hub in Columbus

Leveraging OSU Connections to Rapidly Expand and Power Columbus Region

COLUMBUS, Ohio — (June 18, 2015) — Saama Technologies, Inc., a leading Big Data solutions and services company headquartered in Silicon Valley, today announced its exploring an expansion in the Columbus, Ohio region, to continue to serve major clients in the Insurance, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Healthcare, Life Sciences, Food, Hi-Tech and Retail verticals. The push follows Saama’s funding announcement of $35 million to take advantage of market demand and accelerate Saama’s business geographically.

Saama’s focus on Columbus, also known as “Bay East”, was a clear choice as the region is becoming known as a major IT and advanced analytics hub of the Midwest: Nationwide Insurance created a partnership with the Ohio State University (OSU) in 2008 to develop the Nationwide Center for Advanced Customer Insights; add to that the analytics practice at Battelle, the IBM Global Client Center for Advanced Analytics and the Columbus Collaboratory, and overall there is a strong momentum and network for Saama to add to and grow with.

Ken Coleman, Silicon Valley icon, Saama Board Chairman, two-time OSU graduate and member of the advisory board of OSU’s Fisher School of Business, will return to Columbus this week to spearhead the growth of Saama’s Midwest office, as Saama intends to benefit from the high talent Columbus region develops from Fisher and the various analytic centers in this hub.

We are excited about working with the honors cohorts and our Cluster partners like JPMorgan Chase, Scotts, Cardinal Health and Nationwide. We believe this is the platform we need to grow our business and bring jobs and expertise to the region.”
