Saama Introduces Industry’s First Generative AI Tool to Automate Data Quality Checks

September 19, 2023Saama, a provider of AI-based solutions that accelerate clinical development and commercialization, today introduced  Data Quality (DQ) co-pilot, a feature embedded directly into its Smart Data Quality (SDQ) solution, that quickly generates code for simple to complex, cross-domain data quality checks and tests them using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). This first-of-its-kind generative AI tool built in a SaaS-based product for the life sciences has the potential to significantly accelerate clinical development by eliminating the need to manually program, test, and deploy data quality checks.

With DQ co-pilot, users simply describe their desired DQ check, and SDQ automatically writes the code for the DQ check using generative AI. A key differentiator across Saama’s capabilities, the generative AI models are trained on proprietary historical DQ check data to generate accurate code and test data in seconds.

DQ co-pilot also automatically produces test data so developers can run simulations to ensure the AI-generated code is working correctly. Once the DQ check is generated, users can update the code as necessary, always keeping human reviews in the process before deployment to a live system.

“Generative AI and its application in clinical data management is transforming our approach to the visualization and analysis of clinical trial data,” said Malaikannan Sankarasubbu, Vice President, AI Research, at Saama. “The time and effort saved using Saama’s embedded DQ co-pilot is empowering clinical development by enabling faster trail setup and giving precious time back to data managers. This time can be used to support more studies and focus their talent on higher-value activities, all with the goal to get new treatments to patients more quickly.”

DQ co-pilot and DQ co-pilot test simulator can generate code for and test any data quality check, including visit windows, date comparisons, reconciliations, and more. All code is also stored in SDQ to inform future studies.

To learn more about how Saama’s AI-driven technology platform is accelerating clinical development, we invite you to visit us September 20-22 in Booth #41 at the 13th Annual DPHARM® (Disruptive Innovations to Modernize Clinical Research) conference in Boston, Massachusetts. The Saama team will also be onsite during the Association for Clinical Data Management (ACDM) Symposium on Artificial Intelligence being held September 20-21 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Join us on September 21 for a live demo session from 8:30-9:00 a.m. CEST followed by a discussion on “Opportunities for Clinical Data Management with Generative AI” from 9:00-9:45 a.m. CEST.
